This is worth it right?

Puppy has just got back from the vets. She has her 10 weeks free insurance with Pet Plan, which is great, even Dh will admit that.

But my vets also do a Healthy Pet Scheme, which for puppy alone is £9.80 per month via DD or for puppy and my cat it will be £15 per month.

This entitles us to free annual vaccinations, free flea treatment, free worming treatment, a Hills loyalty card which gives us 10% off all Hills products , 10% off all products my vets sell , discounted microchipping, free dietary advice, 6 monthly full health checks and 20% off certain medications such as heart meds

I think it sounds great but I am sure DH will see it as another commitment we could do without. But it will save us money in the long run right?

I think it's worth it. My cat is insured, but we also have a vet loyalty scheme. You could present your argument thus:

payments are spread out over the year, so no need to pay big bills in lump sums i.e. vaccinations/ boosters.

You get discounts, if you add up all the vaccs, flea/worm treatments, vet examination fees, food and other things at the non-discounted prices, for a year, it will cost more than if you were in the scheme. Our scheme also offers discount for neutering, spaying, castration etc. Kittens and puppies up to one year get a check up every three months, for development as well as health. Definitely worth it for more than one pet. The vet will have a list of treatment/operation charges available so that you can compare discounted/non-discounted rates.

Regular checks mean that medical conditions can be diagnosed and treated earlier, costing less than ones which, if undiagnosed, could become difficult and very expensive to treat.
