Cat with Heart Murmur

I've got a 14 year old cat & I've just been told by my Vet that she has a Heart Murmur & between 1-6 (6 being the worsed) she is a 3. They have suggested a ultrasound to decide the situation & medication etc..

I just need some advice on if it's worth putting my cat through that at her age, but on the other hand I don't want her to suffer & would do anything for her..

Any imput would be great. x

i'll get aabck to you- but the ultrasound shouldn't be too invasive and treatment to help any clinicla signs can be effective...

am busy with teatime and potty time and whatever..

Ultrasound isn't invasive, as oops says, but sometimes cats needs sedation for this procedure and this should be discussed with you. Has your vet mentioned a blood sample? In a cat of this age with a murmur it would be routine to check her levels of thyroid hormone.

I think if she is otherwise healthy, at 14 it's definitely worth checking out

Thanks for your messages. Nothing was mentioned about a blood sample, but they did talk about the sedation.

I'm going back in 2 months for a check up & the vet will check the murmur again & take it from there.. It's just I've had her since Oct 1994 & she is my baby.
