My lovely male cat is a Bengal. He is almost 4yrs old and is the most gentle cat i've ever had (if not the noisiest sometimes). He has always been good with our children and has never hit out at them.
Our little tortoishell cat on the other hand will bite and scratch if she is not in the mood. Actually she beats up our Bengal!
People are scared of Bengals as they can "look" fierce and they are pure muscle and are quite heavy.
The REAL asbo cats are the undone tomcats that roam around.
Problem is that Bengals are good fighters and Tom cats are just mad!
A few times Tom cats have tried to come into our house and our Bengal has seen them off and most of the fur on the floor is the other cat!
And he does bring home baby rabbits in the spring (we live in the countryside) but he does not kill them just lets them loose in our utility room!
Our tortoishell cat on the other hand brings home loads of mice and usually just leaves a head behind for me to pick up! Yuck!
So Bengals are NOT asbo cats, if people had their Toms done there would not be so many catfights.
And yes my cat has been done as it was aggreed at the sale that he would not be bred from.

I wish I did! Is he spotted? They look beautiful. We had a Maine Coon and he was huge, a huge hunk of muscle!

Yes, he's a spotted Bengal and the colours on his tummy are beautifull. Bengal fur is silky and very smooth. The cattery lady who looks after him when we go on holiday just loves to stroke him.
We got ours cheap £250, but the best ones can be £600+, bit like buying a pedigree dog.
But they are not really lap cats as they are quite independant and are more like dogs than cats.
He does have his moments and wants to sit on us but after half an hour my legs go numb!
But as i mentioned before he does get beaten up by a tortoishell moggy (ours) but she is tiny compared to him, too much of a gentleman to harm her.
Hope you get your Bengal one day, you can get "rejects", they are not used for breeding and sometimes have kinks in their tails but they are still good pets.

If you want to know what they are like and how talkative they are, just go on you-tube and type in Bengal cats.

We had a beautiful bengal until a couple of months ago when he foolishly tried to outrun a passing car and failed.
He was huge and beautiful and naughty and on track to be quite the local killer - I was looking forwards to pheasants on the back doorstep. We'd already had mice, blackbirds and a pigeon and he was only 6 months old. And we'd had to surround our guinea pigs with increasing levels of security.

Still missing him. Sigh.

Would love to get another but I worry about the road now. It's a couple of fields away and wasn't a problem with our previous elderly cat - but for an active and inquisitive cat like a bengal maybe it's a bit too close.
