do we just put them in briefly, had gpigs for 2 days, as recommended by petshop,
advice re housing them together seems to be 50/50 but as long as rabbits are young enough seems to be ok to house them together.
we are going to try but am nervous.
any experience anyone?
thanks

Well the advice for 2 rabbits meeting is to put them both in a neutral area, such as another cage or maybe the bath tub / hallway, somewhere they can't escape or hurt themselves and make sure you are there to intervene if needed.

Afraid I am in the camp of rabbits and guinea pigs not being housed together because of the injuries rabbits can cause because of the size difference.

Hope it goes well.

Hmm, trying to remember how we handled this with our pet rabbit and guinea pig when we were kids... We did put them together and it was fine, although in the end the rabbit was fighting off the guinea pig. And the gp had a preference for trying to roger the rabbit's head! Not sure any of that helps you really, sorry...

I was always told never to house GPs with rabbits.

well we got all females to try and stop the possible rogering

hormonally, female rabbits are far worse than males.

You really shouldn't house them together at all because:

  1. Rabbits much more teratorial than guinea pigs and much stronger/with more powerful back legs capable of inflicting serious harm to a guinea pig.
  1. Rabbits and guinea pigs eat different foods and have different dietary requirements, so you have no way of knowing that the guineas are getting the right foods as the rabbits will happily eat the guinea pigs' food.

You need to get another hutch and house the guinea pigs separately.
