Insurance, insurance, insurance. Vets bills are a fecking fortune, pet plan is a good one, they usually pay out for life if your pet has a chronic condition like dodgy skin, ticker trouble etc. Obviously you would need to check terms and conditions, monthly cost will vary depending on which plan you opt for and the cost does rise as your cat gets older.
Neutering when kitten reaches 6 months old if you are not planning on breeding it. The benefits are huge, cost depends on sex, more expensive for females as bigger operation, check with your vet though as I am sure it will vary hugely depending on which part of the country you live in.
Vaccinations, you will need an initial course for flu, enteritis and feline leukemia (FELV) which is usually 2 injections about a month apart (check with your vet), at our vets this costs about £80. Then your cat will need a booster every 12 months for life to keep up it's immunity (costs about £50 at moment).
