Ok next cat question - which cat litter is best?

You can tell we've just got a kitten can't you - I am never off the pet board now.

Anyhoo - have tried Tesco premium natural clay which is ok smell wise but is very dusty and she's does so like to kick it around! This is clumping but which is better clumping or non? And what happens with the wee with non clumping - is it as easy to get out? Oh questions, questions.

I can't afford to be spending a fortune on litter but I do want an efficient one.

Thank you

I like the wooden pellets - they don't smell as much imo. I also use it in the bottom of rat & guinea pig cages with no probs.

I also use the wooden pellet type. It is quite easy to remove solids on a daily basis, and when it's all turned to sawdust, its time to change the litter!! Large bags from pet shops work out much cheaper than supermarket.

another wooden pellet person

It actually smalle really nice when it' clean and ouderless when the ctas have done a few wees init

Ah so it seems wood pellets is the litter of choice! What happens when it gets wet though - it doesn't turn to mush does it?

Have a bag of asda el cheapo litter to be going on with but I don't think I like it, the jury is still out!

I don't like the wood ones because it is very hard to remove the wee as it all just goes soggy and crumbles, which to me is no good as I want to take all the wee out everyday.

CAT SAN!

The clumping version of catsan is extremly expensive though and anything non clumping is rubbish for wee. It is good for odor control though.

PottyCock · 10/02/2009 07:35

catsan here too - the non clumping version. no smells at all. we also used one you could only get online- can't remember the name but it was like little beads of gel of some description.

cheesesarnie · 17/02/2009 13:57

we use one called thomas which is cheap and cheerful and the only one dh doesnt moan about.

Morrisons wood based pellets - lasts much longer, doesn't smell and doesn't leave 'powder trails' all over the floor! Sainsburys also do one - not cheap, but can't stand the smell of cat wee and these are the best. Although trying to train 2 kittens at the moment and they like the smell of litter so much they think it's food
