Why does my cat keep crying very LOUDLY at me??

She is very insistent. Started it late last night and has suddenly started up today.

A sort of half yowly very loud cry. Very insistent

She has food, drink, attention, I can't see any injuries.

It sounds like "There is a small boy stuck in a well" type urgency to it (to the extent that I went and checked in on sleeping poorly boy)

She is about 7 months, needs spaying (speying??). Is an indoor cat atm - is it an in heat thing?? Do cats go into heat??

sounds like she is on heat....if you let her out, she will come home pregnant.

My cat used to make an awful noise when she was in season.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 20/01/2009 15:27

Oh God yes, and that could well be what it is. Expect your house to be surrounded by Tom cats any second!

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 15:27

She ain't going anywhere believe me! Need to find the pdsa paperwork, then she is having her op

I remember when we lived in a flat our neighbour's cat came into season. Every night we were woken by howling Toms, they got into everything. Kept finding them in the garage/behind bins.

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 20/01/2009 15:29

No dont let her out whatever you do.......all the toms in the neighbourhood will be having their wicked way with her!
Book an appointment at vets for spaying.

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/01/2009 15:29

imagine if humans did this

LittleMissNorty · 20/01/2009 15:33

....pretty persistent and loud aren't they....you'll have every tom for miles coming round to yours now...I take it there isn't a cat flap?

We had this many years ago, and someone said, "FGS let the bloody cat out"....then there were 5 cats

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 15:34

poor thing, must be a nightmare being horny and no-one to help

Thankfully cat flap has a lock and she is too thick to work it

Consultation booked for Thursday

Now, how is best to keep her safe (from Flameboy) when she is recovering?? She can't master stairgates (I said she was thick - she can jump up higher than a gate to sit on a windowsill, but gets hysterical stuck behind a shut gate ), but he can.

Am I best off getting a dog cage or summat???

or keep her in a small room ?bathroom....only for a little while. she'll be fine.

she may be thick re cat flap, but make sure its locked to others coming in.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 20/01/2009 16:04

Ooh yes, good point littlemiss - do not underestimate the power of kitty phermones on every male in a 5 mile radius! Check the door isn't set to let outside in.

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 16:09

good point - will do that

The next thing will be then teaching her to work it!

do you still have a travelcot or playpen that flamboy used as a baby?

they're perfect for recovering cats, we put our girl into one when she had the kittens and it was totally toddler proof, it's still up despite kittens being well able to get out of it since 4/5 weeks as she's due to be spayed and i'm going to put her in it to recover.

My cats been a bit weird lately too. Keeps climbing up the window, jumping up and down from the windowsill. Endless licking.
I picked her up last night and noticed that her teats are hard and pink. Her fadge is really swollen too...she spat at me when I went to look her over and am sporting a lovely scratched hand as a result.

Do teats and fadges swell when they are in season?
