Just HOW bad is it to have guinea pigs outside in winter?

As a child, ours were out in their wooden hutch all year - over winter we'd put an offcut of carpet over the grated bit (in lieu of cage huggers!) and they were fine....

I have 2 piggies that would really benefit from being out of my living room!

Is it REALLY that bad to put them outside in a sheltered hutch? (that will be moving in to the shed when I can get the council to fix the door!)

Yes it would especially now they're used to living indoors if you want to put them outside do it in spring and next winter they should go in your shed. They will die if you put them outside now

You shouldn't move inddor pigs outdoors in the winter. It could kill them . It is best to move them out in the summer so they can gently acclimatise to the new situation.

Once your piggies are acclimatised they should have no problems living happily in a properly insulated/weatherproofed hutch in the winter months.

Bear in mind that piggies who live outside are generally less tame pets as they have less human interaction.
