Would you complain?

My next door neighbour has 2 dogs that bark all the time. We can't go into the garden without being barked at. We've moved recently and after wanting a garden for the DCs for ages, we now can't really use the one we have.

Also we'd like to get a dog soon and we're worried about the barking upsetting the puppy.

We know there have been several complaints about them and I am tempted to complain. But at the same time I think if they got in trouble I'd feel awful.

WWYD?

Thanks.

Are you on speaking terms with them? Personally I think it is best if they are approachable to try and chat with them in person about things first. If they are unreasonable about things and/or do not try to take measures to stop the problems then you still have the option to complain via other sources - local council re noise, RSPCA if you feel there are welfare issues perhaps. There are things they can do to stop this and it is not reasonable that your enjoyment of your property is affected by their noise.

No we're not on speaking terms. We have said hello a few times.

I was told by another person on our street that apparently they have been told to get a dog trainer in to try and stop it. But not sure if that is true.

I'd complain in a second.

There is very little more soul destroying than listening to other peoples dogs bark all day, we used to have it with one of our neighbours so we reported them to environmental health, twice.

If i were you i'd start the process now, you are gong to want to use the garden in the summer and imagine coming downstairs on a glorious summers morning, opening your back door and eating your breakfast to a cacophony of dog noise or trying to play with your dc and having to shout over dogs barking. Its mega stressfull, it used to make me cry

Good luck !

I got a collar that sprayed my dog every time he barked. Try getting a leaflet for one of those and shoving it through the door..hint hint or what lol

I would complain if I were you. It is easy enough to stop dogs from barking. I have two and they used to go mad when my neighbours went into their garden. A few days of squirting them with water when they did it soon stopped it and now all is peaceful
Speak to your environmental health about it.

Have a word with the local dog warden. They will write or call suggesting how to stop them barking. Nothing drastic will happen immediatly concerning dogs being taken away. Please remember its not the dogs fault. Its the irresponsible owners who are at fault. Our dog barked at the side gate, without shouting at her, we took her in and put her in her cage and she very soon got the message. Shouting at the dogs only encourages more barking.

They just yell at them and then drag them inside. They then put them back out about 5 minutes later.

Spray them with the hose over the fence. If the owners say anything, say you were watering your lawn and got a shock when they barked.
