From what i can determine it came on yesterday and when i googled it suggested an eye injury and stated that it was part of the healing process. When i bought the last batch of hay they didnt stock the same hay.so possibly this?
should i take her to the vet or treat myself with eye drops or something?

Dontlookatmynoseimrudolph-That is very interesting about the colourings in the food.We have just looked and there is indeed so we will be changing to pellets instead.
thank you.

Pellets are better anyway MrsDoyle...prevents selective feeding and if you go for a good brand...Supa Guinea for example they contain everything you need to feed a pig..vitamins, nutrients etc.

MrsDoyle..how is your pig doing?

MrsDoylesMole · 03/01/2009 13:50

Hi Whispy
She seems to be getting about ok and popcorned when i put the hay in yesterday.I noticed that her sister pushed her off the food bowl earlier and was a bit worried but when i put them back in the cage i saw Pippa was telling her off and bottom shufflingso i think she is holding her own.
We bought some Supa Guinea yesterday and will introduce that gradually.I am hoping that the change in food will help.
Thanks for asking whispy

Is she sharing the hutch with just one other? If so I'd put two food bowls in if you have room, that way she'll be able to munch on her own. Sounds like she's doing really well bearing in mind she's not 100%. Supa Guinea is brilliant stuff - I feed mine on the PAH equivalent. We get thru one big bag of it a week..they eat it all, none of this picking out the bits they like and tossing the rest aside.

MrsDoylesMole · 03/01/2009 20:27

Yes she shares an indoor cage with her sister.Tbh there probably isn't space to have 2 food bowls unless i buy 2 small ones, maybe an option?

Yea two smaller ones may help - perhaps either end of the hutch? You can get some nice china bowls - y'know the brown ones with the blue inners - quite small in diameter but still fairly deep so you could get quite a bit of dried food in them. I can remember having to put two bowls in when I had two brothers sharing - the bigger more domineering one of the two used to sit over the bowl so the other one couldn't get anything...not a problem until I noticed the smaller one was getting a bit on the lean side so I put two bowls in and it did help.
