I have had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY bloody dogs I have had enough of them. I have just yet again cleaned up their pee and poo from my bathroom and kitchen (Bathroom downstairs).
The back door was open as it is 90% of the day when someone is in, they have access to the garden. They get walked 3 times a day. I have taken them to the vets to check that there is nothing medically wrong with them and all tests came back normal.
I have seen a dog trainer/behaviorist and to no avail. We have done everything they told us to do and nothing.
I clean it up with biological washing powder as I was told that really gets rid of the smell so they wont keep doing it.

I have a nearly 13 month old and a baby on the way it is unhygenic. One more time and I swear to god they are out of here

Just a thought, but as your door is open all of the time, they may not realise that there is any distinction between the house and the garden. start agian with your house training by having door shut and letting them out frequently. praise when they go in the right place, ignore (yes i know it's hard) when they get it wrong. keep the nathroom door shut so they can't go in there.

if you are not at home all day then this could be why it is occurring as they may be stressed, particularly as you are feeling understandably fraught by it all.

good luck

Thank you.

I am in most of the day, They only do it when either DH or I are in the house not when we are out I don't know what is wrong with them both.

If I shut the bathroom door they do it in the kitchen. If I let them in the back room they do it in there. The on ly place they dont do it is the front room as they have no access to it and upstairs.

I am thinking of getting them a kennel outside for in the day and they can come in at night.

I sympathise, one of my dogs hates going outside for a wee and will hold it for ages and then go in the kitchen. I have to stand outside with her several times a day saying go wee wees over and over till she finally goes Vet says she hates the cold on her bits but it is frsutrating.

Can you crate train them and go back to basics? So have them in the front room as normal without access to the kitchen, put them outside for toileting but don't leave door open as It obviously doesn't encourage them to go outside. Then when you have them in the kitchen or want the front room free put them in a crate?
We have 2 large crates and mine sleep in theirs overnight to stop one of the dogs messing the kitchen floor.

AndaPartridgeOnADustyTv · 16/12/2008 13:50

I don't have the room for crates otherwise I would have kept their old ones. They go all night without any problems. I think you are both right I will have to go back to basics with them and do toilet training again. But I swear to god that if it does not work they will be outside in a kennel in the day and in the kitchen at night. Or gone.

I never ever thought I would say that of my two, but I have got to think about DD and the new baby when it gets here. I wont have the time to clean up after them then and I also wont have the time to walk them 3 times a day they will get probably 2 walks a day and DH will have to do one of them.

The advice from toolatetodecide is spot-on.

It will take a lot of hard work on your part but I think you will be able to do it if you start from scratch and don't make the mistake of leaving the door open.

It's also possible they're a bit stressed out - a DAP diffuser (which releases soothing pheromones) never does any harm in a situation like this.

Good luck

I understand your frustration!
We have 2 dogs who have both done this at some point.

The biological washing powder is exactly right.
My BIL and his wife have 4 dogs. One of them has a habit of doing this in the kitchen. They can't figure out why but they got him checked out at the vets and they gave them a bottle of spray that is meant to get rid of the smell and it has worked!
I can't remember what it is called but if you gave your vet a call, I'm sure he would know what it is.
