Rabbits - how easy to introduce a second rabbit

We have a dwarf mini lop house rabbit. She's 6 months old now. Have been thinking of introducing a second rabbit as a companion for her (presumably neutered male). How easy is it to introduce a second rabbit at this stage?

It varies a lot, but there is a risk they will fight and if they do they can be severe with each other so beware. If you do choose to try, then start with them in adjacent cages until they seem a bit more used to each other, then when you do introduce them start with 100% supervised time and see how they go so you can separate them immediately if necessary. Some will be fine, some will now.
Unfortunately the only way to know is to try, but be prepared to keep two rabbits in separate cages longer term just in case.

Thanks. I don"t think I can take the risk of them not getting on. I really like the rabbit to have the run of the place when I'm at home and would be worried about keeping her in her hutch whilst the new rabbit was exercised.

The best bet is a neutered female of a similar age and size I think.

We had absolutely no luck trying to get a friend for our rabbit when his pal died. The rescue center did let us try for size though - we were able to bring a rabbit home and see if they got on, and take the rabbit back when they didn;t. All a bit sad really .

Go to this site they have rescue centres who'll take your rabbit in and bond it with one suitable and they come home like a happily married couple
