She has always just used one corner of her hutch for the toilet. But is now doing it in her bed area. And isn't cleaning herself. She also seems to be dragging her back legs along.
She is still eating happily.
Have made apt at vets this aft

goingfor3 · 25/11/2008 10:53

That's so sad.

Same thing happened to us.

Wallaroo · 25/11/2008 10:53

Lilyloo · 25/11/2008 10:56

She has always been really fat with a big double chin but she seems to have lost loads of weight too.
She was with us before the kids so they going to be heartbroken. My apt is before i get ds from school but will have to take dd Am crying now will be useless if they put her down.

cheesesarnie · 25/11/2008 11:33

poor bunny.

Piglet111 · 25/11/2008 11:54

She might have EC and need panacur. Do you use panacur? here has she had any other signs of illness? Going off food, excesive drinking, teeth grinding?

Piglet111 · 25/11/2008 12:19

EC

OrmIrian · 25/11/2008 13:51

Good luck lilyloo. Just been in a similar place Hope the outcome is better for you.

LuckySalem · 25/11/2008 15:40

Oh Lilly - Allow yourself a BIG drink later as has been suggested. Hope the vets goes ok.

MadameCheese · 25/11/2008 15:43

Oh Lilyloo, really feel for you. I'm taking my bunny to the vets this afternoon too as he has stopped eating, hope all goes well and will think of you.

Lilyloo · 25/11/2008 16:09

Lottie was put to sleep and i couldn't even stay with her as i had dd and she was crying. DS really upset when i told him and wants to go and see her.

Feel awful as vet asked if i wanted to bring her home and dd wants to know why i didn't. Obv she didn't understand what he means.

oh im so sorry lily - feel really really sad for you

simpson · 25/11/2008 16:12

Lilyloo - so sorry

OrmIrian · 25/11/2008 16:34

So sorry lily

FWIW we always bring them back afterwards. It seems to help the DC to see them. Then they get a grave in the garden.

MadameCheese · 25/11/2008 17:35

Oh no

LuckySalem · 25/11/2008 17:37

Lily - I'm really sorry. Allow yourself time to grieve (I know it seems silly to grieve for an animal) Lottie was part of your family.

Yeh - we always brought our animals home and they got a grave at my mums.

Mum's garden has 2 dogs, 1 rabbit, 2 gerbils & 2 birds.

Lilyloo · 25/11/2008 19:48

Well had few tears at bedtime and they have done a letter to send to her We are going to post it tommorrow.
DP said he would have brought her home too but i just couldn't.
Have left the hutch for tonight will sort it all tom!
Thanks for all messages what a day!

lily how old was your bunny by the way? We always had rabbits as children and the one my dc have now is around 4 years old and am wondering how long they do live - cant remember

Lilyloo · 25/11/2008 20:06

We weren't sure exactly as she was fully grown when my dog found her on a walk.
She was an albino so had either run away or been abandoned. We tried to find owners rehome but ended up keeping her as no one wanted her (apparantly bunny rescue homes overloaded )
But we have had her for nearly 8 years so was either 8 or 9 which vet said was very old for rabbit!

Lilyloo · 27/11/2008 13:03

Just got a lovely card from the vet expressing his condolensces and some lovely words. What a nice gesture.
