Do indoor cats get fleas and worms??

If they've never been outside, do you still have to worm them, de-flea them and take them to vets for injections??

Yeah, 'fraid so. You don't need to vaccinate against leukaemia if they aren't ever going to go out (ever), but as cat flu is airborne, they can (and do) still catch it, so should be vaccinated against that, they usually get done against enteritis too at the same time (no extra cost!)

As far as fleas and worms go, in practice they shouldn't get them, but I've seen lots of indoor cats with fleas and very perplexed owners, and said fleas carry tapeworm. With indoor cats, I usually stay fairly relaxed about worming, tbh, and tend to only worry about fleas if they get them. I do tend to worm them at least once a year. HTH

Ok, thanks!! I have 2 recently acquired kittens - one much thinner than the other, but doesn't eat much, so I was wondering if I should worm them both - but I am worried about hygiene, as they are always driving me mad, walking/lying all over the worktops, beds, windowsills, so I can't bear the thought of them getting worms / worm traces or whatever on my kids beds or on my worktops when they sit down!

Oh, do they also need neutering as well if we kep them as indoor cats? (They are both male)

Yes to worming them both and yes to neutering them both. Definitely - or your house will never smell the same again!
