Sounds just like she has a cold.
I have booked her in for vets but does anyone think it is anything serious?
She lives indoors.

One of my indoor pigs started sneezing last week. I put it down to the hay so didn't worry too much about him. Then a couple of days later he started to get runny eyes so took him to the vets and he was diagnosed with a cold! He's on a course of anti-biotics for 10 days. I didn't realise they could catch a cold but the most important thing to remember is not to have them be in a draught...which he was (by the back door) so he's now been moved to somewhere much warmer and where he can get the sun during the day. Evidentally its quite common for pigs to get colds although having had them for so many years this was a first for me!

Also remember to keep him/her in a clean dry hutch...the dampness with a hutch can make his/her cold worse.

Well the vet said she has a cold(like your piggy whispy) and she has antibiotics for a 10 days .The vet said if no better by mon then to take her back. She seems better tbh (fingers crossed)She must have caught the cold from me or dd2.

Pelvic - Can I be nosey and ask how much a guinea pig consultation with the vet cost? And how much for antibio's?

I have no idea and I want my brain to feel prepared if its going to cost me a fortune in the future

Beauregard · 21/11/2008 12:27

It was £22.06 in total

Glad to hear your piggy ok. I've still got ours on anti-biotics - due to finish in a day or so - he's absolutely fine now. By the way our vets bill was £35 total, inc anti-biotics, which were only about £3 so consultation was £30ish. Rather a lot of money but I knew that unless I took him in he'd have got worse and being such little animals I wasn't going to take any chances.

Thanks Whipsy
Yes i agree it is not worth the risk as small animals deteriote so quickly if ill.
