we are away over christmas, that would be i dunno how many days, not many, but is it feasible that would be ok?
so far they don't actually seem to eat very much.

2-3 is ok I think, longer and the cage and water become a bit yukky .

SlartyBartFast · 03/11/2008 21:42

we might be ok then?

I used to leave mine for a weekend, but as LIZS says, their water would need changing after that and the toilet bit of their cage wouuld need changing.
If you are visiting family, perhaps hammy could come too?

We have left our gerbuils for 3 nights/4 full days with no problem. We leave a lot of food and water, and a clean cage. If similar to gerbils they don't drink that much anyway - we leave things like fresh cucumber in the cage as they contain additional water.

that's great info. thanks
re - takign them with us - we have 2 cages! so all that extra room in the car is not so good. plus their dogs are known and established hamster eaters

tech you could leave them for a week as long as you change before you go and give them them plenty of dried food and obv full bottle of water

though tbh if i left my very PAMPERED hamsters for longer than an evening (ie if we go out) they sulk

Never leave caged pets for more than one night without someone checking on food and water. When I was younger one of my hamsters bit through the metal end of a water bottle and all the water leaked out. Another water bottle had a problem with the ball bearing in the end, and that too leaked all its water over the cage.

If you do leave them, please remember to leave the heating on - or they may hibernate.
I have left ours for three days with no problem - just lots of food and water as others have said.

The heating is v important. Ours went beyond hibernating iykwim.
