Nextdoor cat is a bully

Next door neighbours are a nightmare as it is - but they have 3 cats, one of which hides in our garden and then attacks our two cats. I have had to take 1 to the vet because her back was badly bruised. The same cat has also scratched my daughter. The cat also comes into our home if I leave backdoor open; and also sits on windowsill staring in at us and hissing.

Next door's attitude is that is just the way cats are - but I feel under attack! Any ideas???

How did the cat scratch your daughter? I'mnot sure there is a lot you can do actually. If it comes into the house I would spray water at it.

There isn't much you can do unfortunately except to scare the cats off so much that they don't want to come back near you. The water spray is great as you will not hurt the cats in any way, but they are unlikely to be pleased with you! Make lots of loud noises at them and without hurting them chase them away from you to add value to your scareing. It does feel mean when you are a cat lover, but given the somewhat violent nature of these cats they need to be made to feel very unwelcome.

As for your own cats - all I can suggest is you try and keep them in when you know the bad cat is out if you are not in a position to play defence. Cats will be cats and cat fights are just a part of their normal behaviour patterns much as it horrifies us.

Good luck

Trap it and drive a long way away and release it.

Not really.

Sympathies...my cats are also having the shit kicked out of them by a neighbouring tom. We're moving house in two weeks though.

I agree with the water spray. We used it to get rid of a stray who kept trying to get into the house. They hate it and learn very quickly...

We have this too. We have had numerous trips to the vet and it has now cost us more than £500. We have managed to block our garden so that only our cat can use it but the mean cat still sits at the gate howling insults!

The neighbour is useless and we have started using a water pisto1 on it now.

Just an idea, and possibly a gross one, but you know how lions mark their territory with their dung - would it work if you strategically placed some of your cats poo around the place to deter thug-features?
