How much should this kitten eat?!?!

I swear she thinks she needs 10 square meals a day

We alternate between pouches and tins.

She has just had her 3rd pouch of the day (had been hassling me a long time before I fed it to her), will probably end up with another 2 before bed. Tins she tends to go through 1 1/2 a day

She has been wormed. She is growing, but is just getting bigger rather than fat.

Is she seriously still meant to be eating this much?? I think she's about 5 months old now (lost track )

1 1/2 tins sounds excessive for a kitten (but I know what they're like for pestering!!) I don't think any cat should be having more than one tin a day. We put two bowls of dried food down twice a day (per kitten)

I would stick to one type of food so you can monitor what she's having, and set two or three proper meatimes for her and stick to them, that way she will get to know when to expect food and hopefully won't pester quite so much. I wouldn't give more than one tin or 3 pouches a day, but see what everyone else thinks.

I was thinking it seemed insane, but she has been like a small child saying "Why" Gonna break my neck falling over her at this rate.

We had a free trial of purina(?) and she was good with that - just eating as & when during the day rather than wolfing it, but tis pricey

i give my 3 cats four pouches between them a day (i dump down 2 in the morning and 2 at night) and if they ask inbetween i drop down a bit of dry food.

5 pouches is way too much for any cat, much less a kitten. there are usually feeding guidlines on the catfood that will help you judge.

if you keep feeding she'll keep asking, better to have set times that you feed her at and after a few days you'll find she doesn't ask except at those times.

We feed ours whiskas dried kitten food, it's about £4 for a sack which lasts about a week and a half with my two gannets kittens. I prefer giving them dried food as it doesn't get so gross if they don't eat it straigth away, and I can just keep topping it up.

My kitty has 1-2 pouches a day, he's 12 weeks old.
I put about 1/3 of a pouch in his bowl at a time with a few biscuits mixed in.

My 6 month old kitty has 2 pouches a day plus a few biscuits.
I'm trying to get her onto tinned food, and a tin would last us 2 days. 1/4 portion each time.

I also find that ours begs for food at our dinner time, so feeding the cat when we eat makes more sense and we get left alone!

I've always fed dry food & just keep the bowl topped up - they won't really overeat at this age. Dry food is also better for their teeth and usually works out cheaper, especially if you buy it in bulk. Plus the litter tray should be a teeny bit less offensive

dry food seems expensive but it lasts ages and you're not paying for water like tins or pouches
