Any feedback most welcome. Feel like 1st time mum again..

Kittens are easy peasy compared to puppies - by the time they come to you they are usually litter trained. How old are they?

Top bit of advice - do not give them milk - they will get severe diarrhoea. Kitten food + water is perfect.

Good luck & enjoy

pointydog · 03/10/2008 19:18

the kitten should be litter trained laready - did you ask?

We got our kitten at 12 weeks, she went in the litter tray straight away, adjusted to going outdoors when she was old enough. Have never had one single accident and she is now 4.

So certainly easy peasy for us.

Would second what bella29 has said - just show them where the litter tray is, and if they do happen to not make it, take them to it afterwards anyway and just point it out again.

Also really good tip about not giving milk - if you want to give them a treat, you can get special cat milk which has the whatever-gives-them-diarrhoea in it removed, otherwise water is def. the best for them.

Have you named him/her yet? Getting a pet is always very exciting!
My dh agreed to us getting a cat because I couldn't imagine not having a pet, but was insistent it wasn't going to be sleeping on the bed....one night of crying kitten later, he was the first one putting her up between us on the pillows!!!

They're home and Bo is GORGEOUS!!
Bella29 thanks for milk tip. Will stick to the kitten food.
Pointydog apparently litter trained though dh did describe barn like situation to me.
Hungarian we are now making plans along the co sleeping route. Another thread entirely??
She's a farm cat, and 10 weeks. dh thinks he's had extensive experience of kittens but i'm experiencing a bit of a rush of new mum hormones!

Thanks for all advice and responses.
