The water is fine, it stays lovely and clear, but the glass goes green REALLY quickly. The fish can hardly see out! Needless to say, no-one else in the house bothers to clean the tank, it is left to me every time.
I don't mind the cleaning of it, it's just that I have to clean it SO often.
It doesn't sit in direct sunlight which I know can make the glass go green, but the room is quite a light one. Short of putting it in a really dark corner, I don't know what the solution is.
Does anyone have any ideas before I relegate the goldfish to the pond outside and throw the tank in the dustbin!?!?!

We have snails and a sucker fish which help.

I used to used the chemicals in the tank that we got in our kit but actually they seemed to make the water green and cloudy quicker so now i don't and it stays sparkling clean for ages!

Fish shouldn't be fed once a day btw only every 2-3 days according to my fish bloke.

thanks bam

rod is a good name as well

think out worms might be loaches

hubby rescued colin from a one of his clients

was in a tiny dark tank and could barely move , and we brought him home and put him in a tank 4 times the size

he is very happy, though THINK he might sometimes eat the tetris fish - did have 10, now have 7
