Jeyes Fluid & other cat poisons

I hate to get up on my soapbox but I keep seeing people recommending Jeyes fluid to clean up cat wee. Jeyes fluid contains a chemical (carbolic acid) which is a phenol and these are toxic to cats, as are all disinfectants which go cloudy in water (eg Dettol, TCP).
Even when rinsed away, the traces left behind are still poisonous.

And just to add - if you have psoriasis and use coal tar - coal tar too contains phenols and is very poisonous to cats.

Wow..I didn't know Jeyes was poisonous to animals. Yet on the front of my container of it its got a picture of a dog sat on a patio saying its ideal to clean a patio! I use it to clean out my outside bin after its been emptied (fortnightly) to help keep it clean. I then tip the water and Jeyes away in the garden. Oh dear...best stop that then.

Does the same apply to the Jeyes dried powder for bins/rubbish?

Yes, I think any type of Jeyes has carbolic acid in it.
