<whispers> <we have fleas in our house> [shock]

WHY?

Two cats, Frontlined every 6 weeks. Done 3 weeks ago and three days ago I found several fleas on one of my poor cats.

So, frontlined them again.

I have, since then, seen about 4 or 5 in the house.

And, just now, there was one on me. ERGH, I hate them.

We use that spray from the vets, allegedly it lasts for 1 year, but we had to use it twice a year. This time last year we had the same problem, vets said it was to do with the weather.

Is there anything^ else we can do? The house has been 'spring-cleaned' recently, could this have done something? Unturned eggs or something? They are very small, so not long hatched.

Please help me, they gross me out. Oh and getting rid of cats is not an option I will consider!

Ive been battling a flea infestation throughout the summer holidays. Ive used an endless number of sprays and powders on both the cat and house. Ive bathed the cat in a flea shampoo and been covered in scratches from him. The poor cat now hasn't been in the house for over 3wks and he sits on the windowsill meowing because he wants to come in.

I have 3 children. 2 boys which are constantly covered in bites and a toddler girl who always seems to have them in her hair. I have treated all the family's hair with hedrin (and contemplated using the cat flea shampoo but dont want to cause a reaction on my little girl as she has really sensitive skin)and treated the entire house top to bottom twice every week and they just wont go away.

I find them everywhere from the sofa, kitchen (which isn't carpeted) the living room, dining room and the 2 carpeted bedrooms. I can walk into the bedroom and spot one on my pillow which really freaks me out to think they could be crawling over me when I sleep EEWWW!!!

I'm gonna give it one more go with Frontline combo and Indorex house spray then if that doesnt work Im phoning environmental health. The £40 they charge I have easily spent already and I am at my wits end. So fingers crossed

We use Advantage ointment from vets on neck which is excellent but on the two occasions when I have been remiss about putting it on every month and we have ended up with fleas, the only thing that has worked is flea bombs - excellent|

get the council (subcontracted out but must be subsidised) in.
we had a dreadful infestation, only realised 10 days after our dog died when the buggers started biting us.
tried flea bombs twice and sprays.
phoned the council - they did the whole house (cost £47) then came back the next week and did it again because I was still seeing a few.

It is so so si horrible.

Thank God I'm not the only one with this problem! I was starting to get really upset with it. I have been treating the cat with frontline, and hoovering and spraying constantly but they just wont go! I am covered in bites, just me for some reason, not the kids or dp.

Whilst we were away on holiday my sister was feeding our cat, she left the kitchen door open so the cat spent the week sleeping in our bedroom. Will try the bombs, if they don't work I am going to insist we move

My cat has a Program injection at the vet every six months and never has fleas. She had them when we got her 6 years ago from the RSPCA. She was treated with stronghold to get rid of them and has never had them since thanks to the injection. It is expensive but worth every penny imo. I used to have all the problems with fleas that you all describe with our other cat.

forget the bombs - ring the council number.
