Help, cats poo on the lawn.

My two cats have decided to use the lawn instead the litter tray. Summer will be here soon and I would like my 1 yr old baby to start playing in the garden but I am scared he will try eating the cats poo.
I am cleaning it but it is hard to get it off the grass . If I use cat repellent pallets, will I not put my baby in danger ?
Please help. Should I get rid of the cats ?

I'm absolutely no expert but wanted to bump the thread up a bit... I seem to remember from something I read a while ago that you can get a natural spray? It comes from a plant that cats hate (the pellets could be natural too)...not sure at all though...and I may be confused with catnip, which cats love lol... I'm sure someone will help! Don't turf out the cats just yet!

Orange / Lemon peel or pepper will help keep them off. Also if you put a bit of gravel or loose earth in one area they should favour that. Either that or give them a good kick when you see them do it!

I think you can get something which is not dangerous from garden centres. I am sure I have seen it there.
I am suprised because my cat only goes in the neighbous garden. She wouldn't dream of going in her own garden. Neighbours cats go in our garden and she goes in theirs.....

Agree with the orange peel, lemon peel. You can also get a spray (called Stop It or something like that) from the pet shop which should stop them. I would say it is unusual for cats to dig up lawn to poo in. I think if you put cat litter in another part of the garden it should encourage them to use that. Also a water pistol for if you see them doing it on the lawn.

my lawn in just one area got all the cats poos and ive put this gel stuff to kills the smell of the area where cats do their business, not really working that well

happydaddy - what do you mean by putting orange/ lemon peel? just put them on the area and the sodding cats wont come back?

You can make up a spray which will work in the same way as the Stop It stuff - use a few drops of a citrus essential oil (pure) in a spray bottle of water. Does only last until it rains again though.

My mum swears by tiger poo - apparently the little kitties don't like the smell of the bigger kitties

quite a few years ago i heard that if you fill 2 litre coke bottlee with water and take off label and put a few on your lawn it is suppose to stop dogs pooing on grass. i cant remember if it works on cats or not but its a fairly cheap way to try. i wouldnt reccomend this but someone i knew used to put used diesel oil round the grass
