By which means did your cat get diagnosis of asthma ?
my cat is at the vet right now and they are proposing CT scan and samples taking and all sorts of things Analysis
he has already had a CT scan and x ray yesterday, blood sample and various other testing and oxygen and a sedation.
All this is new to us and we are self paying
it would be great to hear of others experience as we do not know anything about féline asthma and we love our Little guy
thank you

I wouldn’t/didn’t pay for all those tests. Tried steroids and they worked.

Our cat had an airway fluid analysis test. She's now on an inhaler once a day. Still wheezes a little bit but it's an improvement. She needs a vet check every six months for us to get another inhaler prescription, and then we order them online as it's cheaper.

@Marwoodsbigbreak did you do any tests at all or was your cat diagnosed mostly on the basis of observation ? thank you

@Punxsutawney I think that is our next stage at a cost of £1K

Absolutely mind blown that you can get cat inhalers.

I can’t offer any advice OP but hope your cat is ok

I showed the vet a video of my cat having what I thought was an asthma attack and that was enough for them to be happy to prescribe the steroids.

My cat wouldn’t have tolerated an inhaler. He had injections every few months so it wasn’t a problem if we were away etc.

@Offtheygo Yes I think it was expensive test. Ours was covered by insurance. Although we have since changed insurance companies, and her asthma is not covered, as it was classed as a pre existing condition.

We use a spacer with the inhaler. We've only been on short breaks, so haven't worried too much about her missing the doses We are away for a week later in the year, so hopefully the person feeding the cats will administer the inhaler for us.
