Lump on my dog

Ive got a crazy cockapoo who’s nearly 10 in a couple of months. I took him 2 weeks ago for his booster at the vets and when the vet was examining him he said did I realise that he had a lump. I was horrified as Ive never felt it. It’s on his chest but you have to feel quite deep to find it. It’s a moveable lump and felt quite small. They said they can scan it to see if it’s at a risk of being anything sinister. I’ve taken him in today for the scan and they’ve said it’s at moderate risk (out of 100 it was 21) so suggested I take him for a biopsy to confirm. I’ve booked him in on Tuesday but now worried sick this could be something bad. Has anyone had anything like this and had a happy outcome?

Thanks in advance

one of mine has lumps. We had first one biopsies and it was a fatty lump. They said if you can sort of move them about a bit they are usually fatty lumps. She has a few more now but we haven’t bothered getting anymore tested. Hoping for a good outcome for your pupster! X

Not experienced it, myself, but might be worth you getting it checked just for your own peace of mind.

My last dog had loads of these lumps as he got older. They got bigger but didn't bother him. The vet said they were fatty lumps and very common.

Spaniels are well known for getting fatty lumps as they age. My first two boys had quite a few. Like PP, I had the first lumps tested, but didn't bother with any subsequent ones. The lumps never bothered them, so we didn't put them through operations to remove them.

I had dogs that got " lumpy" as they got older. The good news is it's a " movable lump" so likely to be a fatty lipoma. With my dogs I had the first one removed as I was panicking and wanted to check, but after that I didn't bother with new moveable lumps unless they were in a place that impeded movement. If your dog has " lumpy tendencies" repeated operations could get expensive and stressful for the dogs. Both my dogs died at age 17+ from unrelated conditions.
I was lucky that I had an old school vet in an independent practice who wasn't interested in pushing unnecessary procedures

My dog had loads of them the older he got. I didn’t put him through biopsies, he hated the vet at the best of times but they were just fatty lumps, he made it to 15.

Thanks for everyone’s kind replies. It has put my mind at rest that hopefully it’s something and nothing. I think you think they will be around forever x
