Hello fellow parents,

I am conducting research on behalf of the University of Hull as a part of my Bsc Psychology dissertation on the topic of pet ownership and parental mental well-being postpartum, to determine whether pets are beneficial for mental well-being and whether they may be a valuable source of support. I am looking for mums and dads of babies under 12 months, with and without pets, to participate in a short online survey. Any participation would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you :) x

Pets are hard work in the post partum period. In my experience, they negatively affect my mental health, not benefit it.

I struggled with PPD after my first being barely able to take care of my baby (and certainly neglecting myself) and adding an extra responsibility to my load would I'm sure have tipped me over.

I'm not in your test group due to age of my DC but you would certainly benefit from feedback from parents who are out the other side - a friend of mine had 2 dogs and found them a lifeline both in terms of emotional support and having to get out of the house
