One of my guineas 'Charlie' has developed a limp today - kind of a hobble, difficult to see which leg limpingon so i have caught her and checked all her feet and they all look ok, i have never cut her nails inthe last yr as they are always out and they never seem that long. Anyway she is seeming happy enough and still lawn mowing my lawn as i type, shoud i see how she goes or take her to the vets?

Bumping for you as I don't like to see a piggy question go unanswered.

Don't have any useful advice, but think if she is still doing it tomorrow the vet would be a good idea. GPs can have ricket-like conditions can't they, due to the need for lots of vitamin c? Also, according to my 'Guinea Piglopaedia' they can get sores on their feet as they get older. There is (annoyingly) no index so can't easily find more references to limping.

Hope she's ok soon.

How old is she? One of my g pigs had this when she was 3, and the vet said it was due to muscle spasms, probably brought on by a fit. If she's still limping tomorrow, it's worth getting her checked.

I hope she recovers soon.

PS I hope I haven't worried you. After my g pig had developed this, she lived another few years, with no problems/after effects.

MY GP had limping problem - was vit C deficiency - had to up her brocoli and other greens and carrot intake and she recovered in no time.

Are the nails short enough? or something trapped in between the little toes? Our dog used to limp when he got a grass seed stuck in between his pads. Dont know if something similar could happen with piggies.

i am going to go lure her - how do i cut the nails as they havent been done though dont look long - she is only just coming up a yr old - should i do them??

Oh - i dont know - they wriggle too much! Dd cuts ours with a special clipper - i am too scared to in case I cut too short and they bleed! Dd seems to be able to handle them much better than me.
