my dog is insured i cant remember who this is with as dp deals with all the money things and all the papers are kept at his house, but i remember that they only pay upto £3000 per new illness and injury so am fairly sure that they are not going to be suitable for what we may need.

this morning dp has told me he thinks the dog may have had an epilectic fit last night, she seems and fine, happy and healthy this morning but what he desc ribed does not sound like my dog at all. now i know that sometimes animals and people can just have one fit and are never bothered again so will be keeping a close eye on her the next few days but i dont think she needs rushing to the vets just yet.

however if it does happen again £3000 will not be enough for ongoing lifetime treatment for her should she need it, i would rather not rehome her due to this as i know that rehoming centers have difficulty finding homes for dogs with ongoing injuries due to the expense but i wouldnt be able to pay for ongoing treatment.

do any pet insurers that dont cost an aboluste fortune cover animals for lifetime treatment of these illness?

Petplan do. It's a pricey monthly premium, but worth it in my opinion. Best off checking out their website for different policies. Hope that helps, and I'm sorry to hear about your dog.

You will not be able to change insurers at this stage without declaring this and then whoever you move to will exclude it. At this stage your best plan is to stick with the current policy and wait and hope she is fine from here. Good luck

got one this morning with pet health or something dp found it apparently we were already with them but it needed renewing soon so we upgraded to one where we get £5000 per year to spend accident and illness even if the condition is ongoing.

we didnt mention last nights fit beautifulgirls as we are hoping that it was just a one off. i know that in people epilepsy can be very mild and you never fit others fit all the time, plus there could be another explanation for her fitting epilepsy is just worse case senario. we are just going to keep a close eye on her for now and if it happens again we will take her to the vets.

plus dp can be very dramatic and there is a possibility that the dog was just having a bad dream [hopefull emoticon] but the way he described it really did sound like more than that so we decided it would be safer to upgrade our insurance just incase
