Can a cat hold its pee for more than 24 hours?

Last week I accidentally shut my cat in my bedroom just before going on holiday. The cat sitter didn't realise until the following afternoon, by which time she'd been trapped for about 30 hours. I've just got home and was expecting the cat to have pooed (or at least done a few wees) in my room but I can't find anything!! It's stressing me out thinking that I might find it at some point unexpectedly. Is it possible for a cat to go that long without a wee?

Mine goes 12-14 hours. She’s a teenager and goes to bed with me and sleeps in after I get up and then leisurely wanders out and has a sniff and a scowl at the squirrels and pigeons then finds somewhere to gracefully wee. I don’t know how long they can go without a wee but mine is unusual I think. I envy her bladder as I’ve needed to get up for a wee in the night since being a little girl.

I think they can, ours got trapped in a neighbours van, when they were released the first thing they did was a massive wee, the neighbour never complained about them messing up then van.

Yes - they can. It's not ideal, but it's definitely possible. If she's peed and pooed since, I wouldn't worry.

Penelope went 36 hours when I first adopted her!

Thanks everyone, that's reassuring! She's such a good girl. Her son meanwhile has pooed twice on the sofa for no reason at all.
