Any ideas why my cat is doing this?

I have two cats, they are mother and son. When we first got them he was tiny and still taking milk from her. The son is now grown up and they seem to fight more than be friends. Every day though, the mother cat will take one of their cat toys in her mouth and pace round the house, yowling loudly. It is really weird, the son takes no notice of this but WHY is she doing it?

My cat does the same. They are having a private moment.

have you had her "done"?

She could be getting broody

Could you elaborate please? Am I being thick?

have you taken her to the vets for an operation to stop her having more kittens?

Sounds like she's looking for a mate to 'do it' with

She was 'done' by the Cats Protection League before we got her, we had the son 'done' when he was old enough. It did cross my mind that she was 'calling' but I thought they lost that once their bits had gone.

ah, right, well if she's been done... no idea. Sorry.

Maybe the op didn't work? Maybe it's not 100%? Most male cats stop spraying after being done but not all. Might be the same sort of thing here.

My cat was done very young but this kind of crying isn't calling for a mate. Mine does it while carrying her catterpillar around. It is just what she does and we think it is comfort for her. Thought MIL did say this morning she wonders if the cat thinks it is a kitten!
