Do you have one that covers one for illness for 12 months or as long as it lasts.

Was thinking about m$s policy

we have sainsburys which pays up to £6500 for each illness which is just as well as our dog has just cost £900 and has been diagnosed with an incurable condition!
First time we have had insurance. Wouldn't be without it again. We couldnt have paid otherwise. M$S is a good one, we looked at that one too.
The best ones are the ones that offer limitless cover for an illness but they are usually slightly more expensive.

You really, really would be best to get one which offers lifelong cover. Chronic illness can cost vast amounts in medication and ongoing treatments, so it's definitely worth paying a bit extra for ongoing cover if you can afford to.

We've gone for Pet Plan lifelong. We have a Cavalier King Charles and they tend to have health problems, so we figured it was worth it. PP don't increase premiums with age, and don't boot elderly pets off their schemes, and our vet here and the one where I grew up both said (off the record, as civilians) that it was what they had for their own animals and what they thought was best. I do think the level of cover to pick depends on the pet, though - some are far more prone to illness than others.

Oh, and we didn't have lifelong cover for our labrador. 7 years of arthritis treatment, with only 1 insured, cost us thousands... literally.

another vote here for lifelong cover. our puppy (7 months) broke his knee when he was 3 months old and i was glad of the insurance as so far it has cost £2500 to fix and he is still having weekly hydro sessions at £40 a time.

Hopefully future looks bright for him but who knows.

We are with direct line and they have benn great at paying up etc.

Hi my sister recently insured her puppy with Halifax at www.pet-insurance4you.co.uk There prices are really good and start from £5.85 a month and you can pay montly at no extra cost. You can buy online to and get another 5% off.Think she has cat insured with them too!!
