Stopping stinky cat farts!

Cat is doing really stinky farts! No other symptoms to suggest ill. Any ideas on best food (wet and dry) to combat this? Ideally not so pricey i will need to remortgage...

I've recently switched from James Wellbeloved dry to Scrumbles. Cats were often sick, occasional soft poop.
Scrumbles seems to suit their gut better.

cheap supermarket brands always make all of our cats fart, Whiskas/Felix etc and other 'brands' seem ok.

Ours is currently on sheba wet and nood dry

Go grain-free with the food, either wet or dry. Most cats can‘t tolerate carbs and smelly farting is a common response.

Whisks made our stenchworthy (they had it for a week because it's what they had at the rescue). Hills wet has rank effects.

They are fine on the Pets at Home super duper stuff, Lily's, Scrumbles and Hills dry. Encore and Applaws are fine too but they aren't complete.

Thankyou all!

Whiskas is the worst for our cat. We use it as a grenade when we have friends around that we want to leave at the end of the night.

Hi! Don't worry too much. This is actually a common issue among cats. For dry food, you could consider some brands that focus on high-quality protein sources like chicken or fish and have good fiber content to help with digestion. They usually won't cost you an arm and a leg. For wet food, the ones with simple ingredients and no artificial additives are great choices. You might want to look for those that are formulated for sensitive stomachs.

Also, it's a good idea to add a bit of probiotic powder to your cat's food regularly. It can really do wonders for improving their gut health and reducing those smelly farts. Hope these suggestions will work for your furry friend!

Consider moving to raw feeding, cats are obligate carnivores and are designed to eat a meal that consists almost entirely of meat and bone.

But pet food companies need to make a profit, so they pack out their food with carbs and vegetables, which just go straight through your cat. I cat sat for a friends cat and was absolutely gagging trying to empty the litter tray.

My two are both raw fed and have been for years, the vet was surprised how old they were when he checked, and have no stinky poos or gas (apart from when the neighbour gives them dried biscuits!).

Thankyou all! I'm going to talk ideas through with DH and hopefully less farty cat. Already coming off sheba has helped...couldn't believe the ingredients when i looked - no wonder he loved it!

My cat used to have awful farts but I started giving a scoop of Scrumbles dry food every day as it contains probiotics. This has totally worked. She also has wet food.
