How can I help my cats settle in a new home?

Moved over Christmas. Had to contain my 3 cats in one room while we moved furniture. Daughter easily got cat no 1 into a carrier and brought her to the new house once major moves were complete on Boxing Day. She has remained in an inaccessible space since. She’s not stuck, but she won’t leave.

The other 2, siblings, were harder to get into carriers, but I brought them to the new house today. They’re under the futon and won’t move.

I’ve put food and water where they can see it. I’ve offered them treats and rattled the toys I usually put them in. I’ve offered special cat paste treats on spoons. I’ve lain on the floor near the ones under the futon, talked softly, and blinked slowly.

What can I do for them?

Just leave them be. They will come out eventually.

Leave them. They are coping by staying hidden. Let them get on with it. Or maybe sit in the same room with them and read a book or whatever.

I moved 3 weeks ago with my cat. For the first few days he pretty much hid up and ate at night when it was quiet and we were asleep (empty bowl in the morning). Second week he was exploring the house more and by the end of the second week I let him out. He was v scared and for a few days he was only out a few mins at a time. Week three and he is confident and comfortable, exploring the neighborhood.
Be patient. Leave them be. They will eat when hungry and start to explore the house in their own time.

Leave them be. They'll settle x

Just leave them. Cats are picky creatures, they’ll come out when they’re ready! Leave food and water close to them.

Thanks all. They’ve been exploring the house at night and have found cozy hiding places. The least social of them was walking on me in the night and stayed to be stroked for a little while.

My gran used to butter her cats paws when introducing her them to a new home.
She used to swear by the method.
I have never tried it.
If we leave the butter uncovered our cats will go for it and one of
them has a go at buttering his own paws.😁
So there may be something in Gran’s theory.
I hope yours settle soon.

I can’t get close enough to butter their paws 😆
