we got a kitten who is 10wks old (misty) and had her for 24hrs and then we went back to get her sister (haze)as she was the last one and thought it be nice for misty to have her sister ..but as soon as we got Haze back home Misty has done nothing but hiss and growl at her, is this normal or have we made a mistake .

Misty was there first so she has become alpha female and Haze is being put in her place as subordinate in the hierarchy.

This is despite the fact both kittens are from the same litter. All pack animals have a hierarchy, regardless of the fact they are kittens and don't see each other as sisters, that's a human trait. Its just how they are in the wild, cats are only as tame as they want to be as they will always own themselves as well as their owners, hence why some cats like to make themselves at home in other peoples' houses, as well as their own.

Kitten hissing is terrible cute. Let them
sort out their social order. Lots of cuddles too.

They'll be fine, they're just confused by the new smells. Cats recognise each other primarily by scent not sight. Once their smells and the smell of your house meld together they'll recognise each other as family. Its fine to seperate them for a bit if they seem really stressed by each other, but keep rubbing them with blankts/combs and swapping them around. It can take a few weeks for everything to settle but with kittens its often faster.
