Has anyone ever tried these catbibs: www.catgoods.com
They are supposed to prevent cats killing birds. I should like to know if they work.

No and personally I wouldn't risk it. It is easy enough for cats to get tagled up in collars etc, without adding more risks. Cats need to be able to climb freely to escape predators.

I use a little beeping thing, but cannot remember what it is called. I will have a think. That has made a difference, although they still get very young fledglings who have fallen out of nests.

The most evvective way of protecting wild birds is to keep your cat in at night, until well after dawn.

I wouldn't.

One of mine is terrible at catching birds, I tried the Liberator which is a beeping cat collar and he came home without it after about 15 mins but if your cat tolerates a collar it is supposed to really help. They sell them in Pets at Home as well as at various online pet shops.

Liberator, that's what I use. I cut them off the collar supplied and thread it on to a quick release collar.

PS effective

ooh really? I never thought of that - I can keep a quick release collar on him but he scratches himself bald in protest. May have to have a try again given the time of year.

Thanks, I will try a beeper then since she has always had a collar and doesn't seem to mind it. She is always in at night, and not out until 8.30.- 9 ish. Never caught a bird before but she caught a chaffinch yesterday.
