Is it unsafe to give cat 2x flea treatments in one month?

I was stroking my cat earlier and a flea jumped off her. Then I noticed telltale flea poo all over the cushion and she has since been grooming herself non stop. I’m fairly sure she got the today. Got the flea comb and another one pulled off her.

she only had her Frontline on the spot flea and tick treatment a week ago, so I’m not sure what to do. Is it toxic to double dose?

I have read stories of cats getting anaemia from fleas biting and how it can develop into quite a serious sickness, fast.

would the flea treatment kill off these fleas within a day or two?
or perhaps it’s just not working?

I’ve got a toddler who loves to cuddle the cat so there’s also that concern!

Sorry, to clarify, what I meant to ask was whether the existing treatment on my cat would get to work killing these fleas, or whether it’s not working at all.

No you can’t give your cat two flea treatments you need to stick to the recommended times. What you need to do is to treat your house with something like Indorex which is a household spray that will kill fleas as they hatch and lasts for up to a year. You need to hoover everywhere and then spray carpet and rugs under cupboards and beds everywhere you can. It isn’t a lovely smell and it’s best to go out for a while after and then open all the windows. don’t spray Indorex on the cat.

How are you getting on with the fleas. We are now in the same situation as you. Our cat has fleas properly noticed yesterday and gave her her treatment as she had not had it recently. It must be working as she’s scratching and grooming profusely. It’s so horrible we can see them crawling on her and have been grabbing them and pitting them in hot soapy water. Do you have any recommendations that have worked for you, is it getting any better?
