My friends dog has died, would it be silly to send a card and flowers?

I feel so sad for her.

She has been pretty lonely recently and recovering from a nervous breakdown.

She only had her dog for 8 weeks, but I really noticed the difference in her, she was so much happier.

She took her to be neutered and they found a massive tumour bonded to a few organs and said it would be impossible to operate , and if they left it she would quickly become very ill, so she decided to let her go.

I have spoken to her on the phone, but wonder if sending a card and flowers might cheer her up?

Your poor friend.
I think the card and flowers are a lovely idea.

I think that's a lovely idea and very appropriate. She's going through a sad time and you showing you care will mean a lot to her.

We only recently became dog owners, and I now understand so much more how people fall in love with their pets. Previously I knew people would be down about the death of a pet, but didn't realise that it really is love, and would be a huge loss.

That's so sad. I'm sure the flowers and card would be lovely. I hope she feels that she can get another dog when the time is right, particularly as it seemed to do so much to cheer her up.

flowers and a card a lovely idea - go for it...poor friend

It would be a lovely idea, Devil. It will probably make her cry, but not in a bad way ... if that makes sense.

It will be nice for her to know that you are thinking of her, and don't dismiss her undoubted sense of loss.

Thanks I thought it would be.

She got her dog from a rescue centre, she was 6 years old and very placid and 'snuggly'.

I'm sure she will want another dog, she said to me on the phone 'it wasn't meant to be, but I'm glad I gave her a comfortable home and lots of love for her last few weeks'.

It makes me cry to be honest. I know how some peoples dogs are like their babies.

She has done the very best for her dog. Although it is so sad to have had the dog only a short time, she gave her a happy few weeks and a humane end.

I hope she does get another dog.

flowers would be lovely.

I sent my friend flowers when her beloved cat died and she really appreciated it. It's a lovely gesture.
