Why your cat is always hungry .

Many cat foods are basically just water . Read the nutritional info , often it will say over 80 per cent water . Strangely I've noticed that it seems to be the more expensive ones that contain most water . Cats need lots of water so that in itself isn't a bad thing , but it does mean that a lot of cats are just not easily satisfied with the cat food and so you need to give them plenty of it . Also I've noticed with my own cat , he doesn't sleep well unless his tummy is full . So if he suddenly wakes up and starts fussing me , he's asking for food so that he can go back to sleep . Try a cat food that seems to be substantial . My cat likes Felix original , it seems to fill him , for a while anyway , I have to mash it so there aren't any lumps in it though . Many cat foods are all jelly or all gravy , cats like those but they don't necessarily fill them .

@QuestionableMouse "Though my middle cat is very confused by the concept of ham"

I had one that was completely baffled by a prawn.

He looks at me like "not sure this is food, mum!" never tried prawns with them.

Jumping on this thread to ask...
8 rescues here, can anyone recommend reasonably priced decent cat food? Mine have Felix good as it looks alt gourmet sachets with Sanibelle dry food
I've tried expensive cat food ( consequently almost bankrupting myself ) unsuccessfully

If anyone is interested in cheaper brands at decent prices per kg. From zooplus:

Smilla
Animonda
butcher choice
Feringa
miamor

Theres are others. You can filter by price per kg. If you have several cats then many are even cheaper by buying the larger tins.

For dried food buy the price per kg drops dramatically for larger bags. I buy the 7kg bags for one cat as they last ages. Just seek bag up and decant. The price v say 400g or 2kg bay is often half when you look at the per kg price. Most in the supermarket are just tiny boxes so your buying every week

Zooplus often has sample or individual sizes if you want to try anything

@ragdoll12345 "Our vet recommends one he sells"

Now I wonder why he does that......

Mine have 100% meat dry food available all the time, and have half a pouch each in the morning (currently the lidl one) which they eat some of (mainly the jelly) as well as one of those stick pouch treats every other day or so. They also drink plenty (giant bowl in my shower or a puddle outside are the favourite places, and pooing has never been an issue ;)

They are fit, healthy and happy indoor/outdoor cats (only allowed out during daylight hours) and I have no concerns that what I'm feeding them is a problem.

Biscuits are fine if your cat has had them from being very young , my cat was 14 when I got him and hadn't eaten biscuits , I didn't want to give him them but I was having real trouble finding a wet food that he would eat , tried every single kind , so in desperation I gave him some royal canon biscuits , he seemed to like them and they increased his appetite but , I did notice he was weeing a lot less and eventually he stopped pooing . I was mortified . Took him to vets who asked me a lot of questions and when I told him about the biscuits he said that , you can bring a cat up on them from being a kitten but , if you give them to an adult cat that hasn't had them before they will give the cat diarrhea or constipate it which can be life threatening and expensive to fix . I sorted the constipation with olive oil , stopped the biscuits , gave him Felix and he's peeing and pooing and eating very happily now . So , I say to everyone , careful with those biscuits ! The amount he is peeing now is four times the amount he peed just on biscuits and he's pooing almost every day now as opposed to a couple of times a week on the biscuits .
