Need a home for two lovely moggies

I am desperatly looking for a home for two lovely moggies. I am no longer in a position financially or otherwise to give them the homes they deserve. I have another child due in July and I just am being so unfair to them. They are no longer vacinnated as I can't afford it, and I have had to move to a really small cottage next to a main road, which is far from ideal.
Could anyone help, or perhaps tell me where to start, who to call etc.....
Thank you

What a shame for you

Have you contacted your local Cats Protection to see if they can take them on?

There is a cat rehoming website here you could have a look through to see what rescues there are in your area. There is also a forum where you could ask for help but be warned some of the posters are very judgey!!

Also re not affording things have you looked into whether or not you can go to Blue Cross for vet things?

Our local cpl is a bit rough, and I didn't want to just dump them where being older cats probably wouldn't get homes. Although we are financially strapped, we don't get benefits, so we aren't eligible for any help. Thanks for the link, i'll prepare myself mentally before posting

IMO re-homing isn't necessary.

regarding the vaccinations, as far as I know, yearly boosters aren't really as necessary as people seem to think. I think somebody did an "experiment" before, albeit on a dog, but basically got him vaccinated, and got him blood tested every year to see was he still protected, and about 6 years later he was still protected. My dogs were vaccinated when I first got them and that has been it. I don't believe in giving them unnecessary "things" into their systems.

And as for living next to the main road being a problem, it is rather difficult (probably impossible!) to cat-proof a garden by building a high fence, BUT you could quite easily make them an "enclosure" basically a run like you would build for a dog but with a mesh roof as well. A lot of cats live very happily with this arrangement.

You could get a little kennel or something for them to go into if they wanted to snooze and you could plant some bushes etc in there and leave toys dangling etc to make it interesting for them.

Generally, enclosures are better than giving a cat "freedom" anyway, even in rural areas, as they are still at risk from dogs, foxes, cars, people! etc.

How old are they? Are they indoor and outdoor cats? Where are you based?

As I said I only know of it being done on a dog, I never said it would work for a cat, but there is no harm in asking the vet. Vaccinations aren't that expensive anyway, if cats really do need annual vaccinations.

I have 3 dogs and an older rescue cat and have never had the cat vaccinated and stopped doing the dogs yrs ago. A vet told me after age 5 or so, natural immunity is sufficient.

To op, I am sorry but I cannot see why you want to rehome your cats because nothing you have said is a valid reason. The only thing is if you cannot afford to feed them, but I know how much cats cost to feed, and it really is not a lot!

Whereabouts are you?
If op has decided rehoming is best for her circumstances who are we to judge? I would rather people rehome responsibly than neglect their pets!
