Having my cat euthanised in 2 days

Can anyone relate? Our cat who is 18 yrs old, yes 18, is being euthanised in our home in 2 days. Its a celebration of her life for sure, she has lived a long life and been loved and cared for by myself and my husband and our 3 sons. I have been very tearful in the last few wks, knowing that this decision was imminent. Now the decision has been made, I find it very difficult to see my hubby so pragmatic about the whole thing. Not showing any emotion etc I dont expect him to cry and I know she's a cat not a human but evenstill.
He gave in to my wishes, it wasn't a row at all, just a difference of opinion.. mostly, to having her euthanised at home rather than the vets. The vets was his preference because of cost. In 18 yrs she's hardly cost us anything re vet bills. She has been looked after well and not been ill and not hardly had ANY treatment at all from the vets. So I thought the extra cost to have her euthanised at home was completely ok, and I know he has now agreed but the fact that he didn't want to because of the cost, and still holds that opinion , is very upsetting for me. What do others think pls?

I am so glad it went well,in the end. I always thought my sarf London DH didnt have an emotional bone in his body, but January 23 we had our little toy Phalene PTS,he was almost 18. H was in bits! The day it was happening,he said,he'd changed his mind,we couldn't do it. DH isn't a cat person,so the loss of our last cat didn't affect him, like the dogs. She died in my arms. I actually felt better after they had been PTS, the watching them go for, making that appointment, was the worst. They will never be replaced or forgotten. I'm in my 70s and still remember the cat we had when I was 2. (Not revealing name it's my password)

Ahh thanks people for your understanding. I do think my hubby was perhaps hiding his emotions. Needed to be the strong one and take charge etc. That has its place for sure ,and credit where credit is due, he did that with a beautiful burial thereafter in our garden next to her sister who we buried many yrs ago. (We got 2 cats 18 yrs ago, the sister died a year and a half later sadly- she was a follower for sure , the runt of the litter, and followed us and her sister everywhere. Think she just followed her sis across the road and didn't see the car...😪)Yes she will be remembered for sure. Thanks again xx
