Female rabbit bonding

Hi everyone.
I’m after some advice …
i have a 4 year old female lion head rabbit, we attempted to get her spayed when she was 1 year but the operation didn’t go well, she stopped breathing during the operation so they didn’t spay her. I was told it was too much of a risk to retry. My question is.. can I still get a female companion for her? With the correct bonding? .. are their any positive advice/stories with female bonding who aren’t spayed?

thanks :)

I think you should ask your vets.
I have a feeling that you should try and bond her with a neutered male - but she may try and kill him so it would be best to ask the vets....

Two females can be vicious unfortunately, especially two unspayed females. Those hormones can utterly mess up any future bond. My girl was found as a stray and unspayed, she was absolutely vicious until she was spayed, any attempt to bond her pre-spay there would have been blood and fur everywhere :(

The Facebook group "RABBIT BONDING ADVICE!" may be able to offer more advice.

Try a neutered male. I've gone via the rabbit rescue place and asked who they think would be the best choice of companion, then dropped off our rabbit for them to bond over a few weeks. Have done this twice now and it's been successful.
