What's the best way to deal with heavy matting or dense knots in Persian cat fur?

I've read online that olive oil can be an effective method. Can someone suggest the ideal approach, please?🙂

Also another point I'd like to mention is about shedding season. We've noticed that fur is everywhere😫, and we end up spending a lot on lint rollers😫. The fur even gets into our stair carpet and wardrobes. Do you have any tips or effective practices for minimising the amount of fur on our clothes?

Tumble dryer on cold for ten minutes - the static generated pulls the hairs off.

I had a Persian years ago and she was horribly matted with large solid knots. I thought it better not to attempt any grooming myself incase she had any lumps/growths underneath all that fur. Booked her in for a de-matt at the vets (anaesthetic job) just to be on the safe side. She was totally bald when I got her back except for head and tip of the tail, but it was so worth it cos once the fur started to grow back, I gently stroked her with a zoom groom twice a day every day, and as her coat started to thicken I moved onto the normal brush and comb and by then she was used to being groomed and had started to enjoy it. So I would strongly recommend the de-matt & then start your grooming routine from scratch.
