What would be the best combo? I know rabbits can turn on one another - I am thinking of getting another baby dwarf female would this be a no no? Also - how do I "introduce " them? We have quite a large hutch & Run...

Rabbits need company so I think it is a great idea. We have two dwarf house bunnies. We started with a neutered male then introduced a neutered female. We had the neutering ops done. It makes them calmer and less prone to cancer as well as removing risk of babies. Introducing the rabbits to each other takes a while but once they are friends it is priceless seeing them licking each other and cuddling up. I used various ways to make them friends. Stroking them and alternating hands so they small like each other. Taking them out for a ride in the car in a travel basket so they cuddle up together. It took about ten days all told before I was confident they were ok with each other and could be left alone together.

im sorry fleur but i disagree that rabbits need company i have seen many cases of rabbits being put together as people have said they need company with disatorous consequences. as long as your rabbit is handeled regulalary and has contact with people then that is enought you can get toys for rabbits aswell to keep them occupied. at 2 years old you have to be very careful aswell as the rabbit will be terratorial. i breed and show rabbits if you would like further infor please feel free to email me on [email protected]

Point taken tj- you have obviously more experience than me. Isn't it worth a try though particularly if the rabbit is going to be left on its own a lot of the day?

RSPCA say rabbits should only be kept singly if you can give lots of attention. They will not rehome a rabbit to live alone unless its a house rabbit.

Pairing them up can be difficult. You need a separate hutch and a neutral space to introduce them. Best way is to have two adjacent runs for 2 weeks before you let them meet, swap their bedding so they get each others scent, take them for a car ride Sometimes they take to each other, sometimes not. We paired 2 that seemed to dislike each other at first but have failed with other attempts.
