Any bunny experts out there?

We got 2 rabbits about six months ago (first time pet owners!). One of them died this week - a total shock as they are still very young, and the vet didn't know what the problem was.

My question now is, should we get another rabbit, or rabbits as company for the remaining rabbit, or will he not take kindly to a new smaller animal in his space? If we should get a new one, where should we get it from? (I think these ones from the pet shop might have been a bad litter. )

I wouldn't get another one. If its male he will very likely fight or spray everywhere. What you could do is get a Guinea pig.

Sorry for your loss.

I'd get another and get them both neutered. Rabbits are social animals and live at least 5 years + often much more which is a long time to be alone.
I have heard the rabbit + guinea pig combo is not good- different diets and the guinea pig gets bullied.

Get another. Do you live near a rabbit sanctuary ot RSPCA type place? The one near us lets you take your rabbit along to find a rabbit it won't fight with. Or you could let your rabbit live in the house as a 'house' rabbit so it doesn't get bored. Rabbits like company. We have one but he lives in the house and thinks he's a human.

Thanks for all your views. I have heard that rabbits and guinea pigs get on OK when they both arrive together, but would be worried about the 'old' rabbit accepting a new guinea pig IYSWIM. I will look into local santuaries.
