Litter box help

Hi all
Our cat passed last year and we feel it's time to get another.
We had huge issues with the litter last time and the smell/cleaning etc. any tips on litter and litter boxes? There would just always be little bits of litter everywhere and the smell would be awful even when cleaning daily.
I have heard a puppy pad under the litter and baking soda works well to absorb smells. Is there any particularly good clumping litter you could recommend?
Thank you

I get everclean multicat litter of amazon, I've only got 1 cat and I clean the box out as soon as I see it has been used. Unless the litter box has literally just been used it doesn't smell. I got a mat from pets at home to put by the litter box that reduces how much of it gets tread about. Other than that, I just keep a dustpan and brush by the litter box and sweep up any litter as needed. I also have a liner in the litter box so when it comes to a full litter change I just bag it up, no trying to tip it all into a bin bag.

Sure thing!
I'd suggest trying a high-quality clumping litter like Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal or Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat. For the litter box, consider getting a larger one with high sides to minimize litter tracking. Using puppy pads underneath or placing baking soda in the litter can help absorb odors. Also, regular cleaning and scooping at least once a day can make a big difference in keeping things fresh.

I'm only 1 week into raw feeding but have so far found the litterbox to be much less smelly!

I use a top entry litterbox, like a box with a hole in the top, and wood pellets and find there is rarely any tracking even with our longhair cat.

Cat's Best Smart pellets, they don't smell, they clump and you can flush them down the toilet as they are made of corn apparently. They are quite big too, so they don't track. I never see more than a couple of bits outside the litter tray and we have three. I wouldn't use anything else
