Could be anything from just something he's eaten (or scavenged from a dustbin!) to something that the vet needs to check out.

If he's otherwise healthy and remains that way, you don't need to do anything. You could try simple, plain food - a bit of boiled chicken or something like that - for a couple of days and see if there's any improvement.

If it lasts more than a day or two, or if he starts to look miserable or unwell, then take him to the vet.

has he changed his diet recently? that can cause the runs. It is good that he is well himself. I would feed chicken and rice for the next week, probably best to feed both cats on this to stop him scavanging, although i daresay he will prefer that. Dont fall into the trap of milk or cats milk as that can cause the runs. Miss out the next feed too, give the gut time to calm itself down. If no better by monday then probably will need meds.

Plain white fish is good too for the runs in cats. (just cheap plain boil in the bag stuff worked for mine)

if he had a high infestation what the rescuse people gave him might not have been effective. Get some drontal from your vets, they will have to see him first, but shoudlnt charge you for this as it will just be a nurses check. Much more effective than shop bought remedies especially with high infestation, best do the other cat too Really important that the children are careful as worms from cat to human is bad news. You will need to reworm him every three months, but its not that expensive If he is a real tablet hater you can buy profender which you put on the back of his neck, a little more expensive mind you.
