How to clean wet food pouches to recycle?

Just that really. I get through a lot. Local recycling centre has facility to accept them but they must be clean and dry. I cry at the prospect of cleaning and drying the inside of about 40 pouches a week. I am also looking at moving to tins but they don’t seem to be as readily available.

Not worth the time, energy and water. Bin them and swap to something more sustainable.

I wouldn't bother but equally I wouldn't change their food if my cats were happy with it, it can upset their stomachs, it's not worth it.

@muddyford what do you recommend?

I just give them a quick rinse and put to dry on the draining board. Then stick them in a bag later when dry, until I’ve got enough to bother doing the separate trip.

There’s never any residue left that doesn’t come off with a very quick sluice of water, it’s a 10-second job, if that.

I have 2 of the long narrow mushroom boxes to dry mine in. the inner one has holes punched in it with a skewer to allow water to run away. I stand them up in it to drain.

We wash them out. They get clean in seconds. We leave them on the draining board to dry out and then store them in a big IKEA bin for recycling.

Another one who does a quick rinse under the tap and then leaves to try on the draining board. They then go in a plastic tub until I have enough to take to the recycling point.

I rinse mine out under the tap and leave them upside down on the draining board to dry, it's not much bother. Adult children refuse to touch them though!

Don’t they leave a horrible residue on your draining boards?

Only sometimes if you miss a bit, easy enough to wipe the draining board though 🙂

Another one for rinse with hot water & draining board, then bagging them up to drop at Pets at Home. We get through 4 pouches a day, I’d feel awful binning them all.
