1yr old cat refusing tinned food and moulting lots... is this relevant? (clueless)

Doesn't want the tinned stuff (whatever flavour)

Seems to have suddenly started to moult(sp?) LOADS

I am not a knowledgable cat lover

TIA!

Some cats prefer 'fresher' stuff like the pouches. If the moulting is excessive I'd call a vet because it may be an illness. ???

Thankyou

He had the pouches of kitten food but I switched to the tins when he turned 1 so I could recycle them... maybe that's why, then

I didn't know excessive moulting was a sign of illness? There does seem to be more hair (on the beds, eg) than usual

Illness, eating 'issues'... God, it's like having a 3rd child!

Tinned food is muck, if you want a healthy cat you should get a good, dry brand of cat food, preferably something from the vet, like the catfood versions of Hills, Burns etc. Or alternatively fresh meat is good for cats too. As for the moulting, I'd take him for a check up at the vets to make sure it's nothing serious that is causing him to moult.

nnb hi there just an idea about the essesive moulting my late cat who i had for years before she passed on,had this problem.she was allergic to fleas.im not saying you have fleas.this time of year they go out and even if they get one from a mouse bird or other cat it can course this, front line from the vets is ood and protects them.but if this case will need to gob to vets for injection.xx

Fresh meat is actually not all that great for cats - it is not balanced as a diet.

How old is your cat? Dental disease in an older cat would be a concern in this sort of situation. Not necessarily to be ruled out in a younger cat either - I suspect your cat is quite young from what you have said. Otherwise as others here suggest maybe just a fussy cat, skin problems etc all possible. If you are not sure then probably safer to get a full check up done.

Thanks for replying.

Am now more worried about the fact that he appears to have wandered off! He's been out all day which is very unlike him. He's not next door, either
