Cat has just come in with a chunk of fur missing and some red dots on his flesh . I don't know if he caught a lump of fur on something or a seagull or magpies has done this as they are always after his food

He is an older Gentleman and apart from his head and face does not groom himself very well. He has clumps of matted fur which we gently cut off him , so I know something else has caused this . I'm betting he has caught a clump of fur somewhere but it does look as if something has nipped at him

Oh bless him that does look like a little wound of some sort. I suppose it’s possible that he was attacked by a bird especially as he’s elderly. Seagulls can be absolutely vicious. My neighbour’s little boy got pecked by one and it drew blood. I don’t know about Magpies but would guess they aren’t much better than seagulls. Could you put his food somewhere away from the birds? Might be difficult as I know the old chaps get set in their ways.

He won't eat inside in the summer , we do stand and watch him eat , but he does leave a little bit sometimes . Im wondering if he was led by his bowl and they just went for him to get him out of the way

It could be this . A few years ago we had a long haired cat and she always got attacked lying on the lawn in early spring , we thought some magpies just didn't like her but it turned out that the cheeky buggers were pulling out clumps of her fur for their nests .

Hi it was a cat bite

I was about to post to say it looked like a cat bite (one of mine likes to fight) and then saw your update! Hope it heals well, they can be nasty.

Thank you he is old and also has a suspected overactive thyroid. I guess the other cats know he's to old and are after his territory.

Hopefully it's an isolated incident... if he's not usually prone to receiving cat bites/fighting, there's a good chance it won't happen again.

My oldest (the fighter) is actually more sensible now that he's a senior cat (about time too, as he's often up for a fight but never seems to win... silly "macho" cat 🙄🤣).
