Help! There's a frog invasion in my house!

Can anyone tell me if my cats are just plain weird or does someone else have the same problem?

Our 2 young tom cats have recently discovered their 'hunting' skills.

The thing is, they are not bringing in the average cat 'gift' such as a mouse or bird......FROGS OF ALL THINGS!!!

We've had about 10 in the last 2/3 weeks, most of them alive, last Friday there were 4 in one day!

This morning was the last straw as we had a live one dumped on our bed at 6am!!! Yuck! What a way to wake up!

I like the cats to be part of the family so let them have the run of most of the house when i'm here, but i think i'm going to have to shut them in the kitchen at night from now on and face the consequences in the morning from the nights hunting!

Any ideas?

Try keeping them indoors overnight and only letting them out in the day. Cats are more likely to hunt at night though it does not stop them altogether of course - but at least there will be less of it going on for you to deal with, and no nasty surprises in the kitchen when you first get up either.

I did think about that but we live on quite a busy road and I feel more comfortably with them going out at night when there's less traffic about. Plus they are now used to coming and going as they please, i think they'd be mighty annoyed if i started locking them in at night now!
They do go out during the day too but much less than in the evening, they seem to sleep a lot during the day!

my cats used to do that - grown out of it now and stick to the 'traditional' gifts of mice/rats/birds... ...nice huh?

The weird thing was that all the dried up dead frogs we used to find in the conservatory looked as though they'd died dancing to Night Fever...

Our cat has recently been gifting us with live huge mice/baby rats in the middle of the night so we have had to adopt strict emergency protocol - she is shut in the kitchen at night with cat flap access to go out so at least if she brings anything in it won't end up on our bed. In the day if we're out it's the same as at night and when we're in we have the cat flap set so she can go but not in and has to scratch to be let in and we can check if her mouth is empty! it's a real hassle but she hasn't been at all bothered by it and I was starting to go insane with all of her live gifts.

We regularly wake up to find koi-carp on the door mat (still flapping usually)

Cats are weird!

Just be careful if they bring in something like toads or newts - they can release toxins from their skin and make the cat's mouth very sore. At least that it what happened after one of ours brought in a live newt.....
The frog thing could well die down in a few weeks - the frogs are moving to spawning grounds right now so will be very available!! Our pond is seething with writhing clumps of frogs clinging to eachother.
